Warrington Housing Association has been shortlisted for a Tpas Award for its LifeTime service, which gives a lifeline for older people.

LifeTime provides activities for people, aged 50 and above, at its central hub at The Gateway on Sankey Street, and in the wider community – from yoga and art, to IT access, health groups and day trips, and is free to join.

The service is shortlisted with six other organisations in the Community Focused Service/Product of the Year category for the north region of the Tpas Awards, which aims to recognise a product or service that has made a difference to the lives of tenants and communities.

Chief Executive of Warrington Housing Association, David Cummins, said: “I am delighted for all of the staff and volunteers at the LifeTime service, who work so hard to combat social isolation. LifeTime is seen as a lifeline to some – but also helps people to enjoy their lives to the full and have a bit of fun.

“The service very much listens to its users to make sure activities are what they want to attend and I hope we continue to gain more and more members. To be shortlisted for the award is an amazing achievement.”

Tpas are tenant engagement experts and the annual awards showcase success stories of tenants, landlords and contractors working together across the communities of England, celebrating and rewarding the people, ideas and organisations that shape tenant involvement work.

Andrea Rees, LifeTime Officer, said: “We are all very excited to have been nominated for this award. Our members love coming along to our variety of activities and socialising at the hub. We will keep our fingers crossed – but we already feel like winners, helping older people in the community.”

The awards will be held on March 16, at the Hilton Manchester, where the winner will be announced.
