POLICE have been called in to help move on travellers who set up camp on the car park at Woolston Neighbourhood Hub earlier today.

A total of 14 vehicles descended on the car park for the second time in recent months.

Warrington Borough Council’s gypsy and traveller support officers have been assisting police who say they will use their section 61 powers to move the group on.

Travellers have also been causing an issue at the nearby Kings Leadership Academy with another encampment also reported at Marks & Spencers on Gemini retail Park yesterday.

  1. None…as per usual I guess ! Not enforcable when you don’t have a fixed abode and/or your vehicles are registered to A N Other somewhere in the Traveller Universe. They know how to work all the systems to their advantage that’s for sure.

    • Cambridge also seems to be a magnet for the impromptu gatherings. They have designated areas for the travelling community but still have problems with those choosing to park elsewhere.
