Charity groups urged to apply for grants of up to £20,000

CHARITY and community groups across Warrington can apply for grants of between £500 to £20,000 raised by players of the People’s Postcode Lottery.
Between February 14 and 28, groups can submit expressions of interest in the funding, which requires basic details about the organisations, as well as a short description of the project they are proposing.
The funding is made available through three different charitable trusts depending on the type of project:
*People’s Postcode Trust seeks applications for projects that focus on the prevention of poverty, promotion of human rights and equal rights.
*Postcode Local Trust supports community gardens, play areas, wildlife and green energy projects.
*Postcode Community Trust focuses on grass-roots sports, arts, recreation and healthy living programmes.
More information on how to apply is available from the Trust’s websites:

Warrington South MP Faisal Rashid is encouraging groups to take advantage of the scheme.
He said: “This is an opportunity not to be missed. We know that there are many charities already doing fantastic work across the constituency, but I have no doubt that for many this additional funding would be most welcome. A successful application could help your group deliver an extra special project or expand the existing service. I encourage as many local charities as possible to apply.”
Last year, grass-roots projects across Britain received more than £8.2 million from the three trusts.
