THE Met Office has issued a Level 2 cold weather alert for Warrington – and the borough council is reminding residents to wrap up and keep warm.
In particular, residents are being asked to look out for the old and vulnerable.

Council gritters will be out on the borough’s from 6pm this evening as a sharp frost was forecast.
A Level 2 alert means there is an 80 per cent chance of severe cold weather and icy conditions between now and Saturday.
This could increase the health risks to vulnerable residents and disrupt the delivery of services.
Severe cold weather can be dangerous, especially for the very young, older people or those with serious medical conditions.
The council is advising people to keep rooms heated to at least 18C and, if they haven’t already done so, to get the ‘flu vaccination.
People are asked to look out for friends, relatives and neighbours who could be vulnerable to the coat and to study the weather forecast and plan ahead.
Drawing the curtains can keep heat inside the house – and plenty of hot food and drinks will help keep the cold at bay
Advice on how to reduce the risks of cold weather can be obtained
from the winter health pages at www.nhs.uk or from the local pharmacy.
Anyone worried about their health, or that of someone they know, should call NHS 111.
Any disruption to council services including bin collections, school/road closures will be posted on the council website at warrington.gov.uk/winter
