Chance to get your personal licence for alcohol

LOCAL people who authorise or supervise the sale of alcohol are being invited by Warrington Council to receive expert training and gain a nationally recognised qualification.

The borough council is hosting its latest ‘Personal Licence Holders Course’ on November 14, to coincide with Alcohol Awareness Week 2017.

The day-long session, delivered by the council’s alcohol harm reduction officer, is aimed at managers, assistant managers and supervisors working in pubs, clubs, hotels, restaurants, bars, supermarkets or convenience stores which sell alcohol.

A comprehensive training session will be delivered by an experienced trainer, including a 40-minute exam.

Every premises licensed for the sale of alcohol must have at least one personal licence holder to make those sales, or to authorise others to do so. Upon the successful completion of the course, individuals will be granted an ‘APLH certificate’, which is the Level 2 Award for Personal Licence Holders.

Once they have their APLH certificate, they can apply for their personal licence with the council. These are a legal requirement under the Licensing Act 2003, enabling individuals to authorise the sale of alcohol from any premises that holds a licence.

The Personal Licence Holders Course takes place from 9.30am – 4.30pm on Tuesday 14 November at St Werburgh’s Personal Development Centre, Boswell Ave, WA4 6DQ. The cost of the course is £130 per person. Free parking is available, and there will be refreshment breaks during the day, as well as revision exercises before the exam.
