FOR the fifth year in succession, Warrington Borough Council’s neighbourhoods team is running a Christmas toy appeal.
Last year the toy appeal brightened up the festive season for 250 children in the borough and the team are asking for donations to be given to deserving children and families in the local area.
Donations of new toys, gift vouchers, sweets, toiletries and new nightwear are all accepted. All donations should be suitable for children aged up to 16, and each gift will be wrapped by the team and distributed ready to be put under the Christmas tree.
Residents can drop off donations at Orford Community Hub, on Festival Avenue; or Contact Warrington, on Horsemarket Street.
All families who will receive a gift have been referred to the service by health and wellbeing partners across the borough.
Cllr Tony Higgins, the council’s lead member for culture, leisure and community, said: “Last year, 250 children received a present thanks to generous donations from the people of the borough. In some cases this may have been the only present they received.
“It would be great if people could buy just one extra gift this year and help light up a child’s face on Christmas day.”
