Change of use for former stables at historic hall

A PLAN to change the use of a ground floor interpretation area at Warrington’s historic Walton Hall has been given the go-ahead by borough council planners.
The area – adjoining the existing café – will be converted for retail use.
In addition a first floor area is to be used for community uses and will require refurbishment to meet modern standards.
A lift will be installed, modifications carried out to an existing external staircase to make it safe and general repairs and refurbishment carried out, including new flooring, brickwork and updating of lighting.
The building was original used for stabling and the new development will protect the heritage of the building, improving access, particularly to the first floor.
Planning officers say the proposes uses are compatible with the building’s listed status.
