Wild flowers brighten the lives of road users

1

RESIDENTS of the Chapelford and Old Hall area of Warrington have had their lives brightened by displays of wild flowers on roundabouts and in other areas in recent weeks.
The flowers were planted as a result of an initiative by Cllr Rebecca Knowles, who managed to get funding from the parish council and from the borough council’s commuted funds for the Chapelford Urban Village.
Cllr Steve Parish said he had originally been a bit wary of the idea, because spending cuts had reduced the level of normal maintenance of open space.
But Cllr Knowles had pointed out that a relatively small sum was involved, compared to the impact of the flowers.
She said: “We hope that for the few weeks of this gorgeous display it will put a bit of cheer into people’s journeys and promote enjoyment of our neighbourhood.”

  1. Well done! to Cllr Rebecca Knowles, I’m sure the flowers are a delight to everyone who sees them!
I’m surprised Cllr Steve Parish wasn’t a tad more enthusiastic for ‘all things bright and beautiful’ to cheer us all up. 🙂
