LABOUR at Warrington have announced the name of their candidate to contest the borough council by-election caused by the resignation of ex-Mayor Faisal Rashid following his election to Parliament.
Paul Warburton, a member of Great Sankey Parish Council, will fight the Chapelford and Old Hall by-election.
Mr Warburton is a senior lecturer in the Faculty of Health and Social Care at Edge Hill University and a registered nurse with many years’ experience in the NHS.
He said it would be a privilege to serve the ward, and was pleased at progress made with the new Warrington West station and hoped that the new health centre would soon also be confirmed.
The other two councillors for the ward, Rebecca Knowles and Steve Parish, said they would be delighted to be campaigning for Paul, who had also been endorsed by his predecessor as he settles into Parliamentary work.
