A LATCHFORD woman is warning other cat owners in the area to be on their guard after her pet was shot at the weekend.
Melanie Evans, who has reported the incident to police, fears for the safety of her other two cats and others in the area after two year-old Tigerlily was shot at approx 12pm on Sunday.
The cat returned home within three minutes of going out, upset and went to hide.
Melanie said: “Her leg was limp so we took her to the vets who x-rayed her and found that her front leg was shattered with a pellet lodged in it.
“The vet also found another pellet in her back which I was unaware of. It had healed over so its not an isolated accident.”
Melanie believes the shooting took place in vacinity of St Mary’s Street, Latchford.
She has another two year old cat and a nine week old kitten and is concerned for their safety.
“I lost another cat in October last year called Spider. The vet said he had a burst abcess but now I suspect it could have been caused by a shooting as it looked like an exit wound.
“There is obviously some idiot around here taking pot shots.”
Melanie has reported the shooting to police, incident number 12th June 179 and urges anyone with information to call 101.

Hope they catch the scum bag who did this.
What sort of sicko can shoot a defenceless pet?
Aww poor cat 🙁 Why would anyone do something like that 🙁
From the picture it looks like the little cat may have lost it leg thanks to the mindless idiot(s).
Hopefully ‘Karma’ will pay those responsible a visit sometime soon.
I hope they are reading as they are nothing more that pathetic evil scum !!!!
Obviously the work of a sad social misfit with a serious personality / mental health problem, no friends and no life. Nobody normal would do something as sick as this.
Hope the poor cat recovers.
Spot on.
A person as unbalanced as this could well progress to even more targets ,including people.
They need to be found and treated in a secure establishment as soon as possible.
Let’s not wait until they actually progress to more sick behaviour.
