How cycling can become part of everyday life

BIKE Week begins tomorrow – and Warrington Borough Council is using the opportunity to promote the borough’s cycle map.
Aim of the annual event is to show how cycling can easily be a part of everyday life for most people – and persuade them to give it a go,
whether for fun, as a means of getting to work or school, the local shops or just to get out in the fresh air.
The cycle map shows leisure routes through parks and green spaces, and also colour codes the road network to show the quieter roads where cycling might be easier and more pleasant.
It map allows cyclists to plan a ride using only the routes that suits your level of experience.
People who fit a cycle trip into their daily routine and sign up to the Bike Week Pledge will be in with a chance to win some amazing prizes at http://bikeweek.org.uk/
David Boyer, the council’s assistant director for transport and environment said: “Bike Week is a great chance to use Warrington’s extensive cycle network. Over half of our car journeys are less than five miles – swapping them for an easy 30 minute bike ride can save you a small fortune in fuel costs.”
