New taxi ranks to cater for town’s night time economy

NEW taxi ranks are to be introduced in Warrington town centre as a result of the development and regeneration being carried out in the Bridge Street area.
Main reason is to serve and assist the town centre’s projected night time economy, according to the borough council.
The council proposes to use its powers under the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act to revoke the existing hackney carriage stands which provide seven spaces, operating from 9pm to 5am in Academy Way.
They will be replaced by stands with four spaces in Moulders Lane and five spaces in Academy Way operating from 9pm to 5am and three spaces operating 24 hours a day in Academy Way.
