A WARRINGTON high school was completely evacuated today when fire broke out shortly before 12 noon.
The blaze was at Cardinal Newman RC High School, in Bridgewater Avenue.
Fire engines from Warrington and Stockton Heath were called to the scene and a hose reel was used to extinguish the fire, which was on the ground floor.
A thermal imaging camera was used to check there no remaining hot spots and a ventilation unit was used to remove smoke from the premises.
After the incident, a spokesperson for the school said all pupils were safe and had been accounted for and lessons were continuing as normal.
But as pupils had been outside in the rain, parents could bring dry clothing to the school or take their children home.
