DESPITE heavy rain in the early morning the weather stayed mainly dry and sunny for the 5th annual Birchwood Carnival.

Organised by the Birchwood Carnival Committee with help and support from Birchwood Town Council and Warrington Borough Council this year’s event was more popular than ever with huge crowds flocking to the attractions.

There was a huge array of activities and entertainment on offer including a multi use games area, a procession, Karamba Samba drum band, Shadowquest dog display team, Inspire school of dance, Vale Royal falconry, Northern Star dance, a circus workshop, dog show, donkey rides, ferret walking and much more. Children loved the Silcock’s fair ground.

Proceedings were officially opened by the Mayor of Warrington, Cllr Les Morgan and Birchwood Town Council Chairman David Ellis and they both presented prizes to the winning teams.

The event included over 40 stalls with many local charities raising both money and awareness for their causes.
