FOR the third year in succession, Warrington council worker Christopher Ball is to put on his running shoes to raise money for the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Christopher Ball plans to run for 24 hours in Orford Park in memory of his father, who died of MS two years ago.
Last year he ran 74 miles from Llandudno to Warrington and the previous year he ran 73 miles around Orford Park.
This year he hopes to cover an even greater distance.
Chris said: “My Dad had MS for many years and after we sadly lost him two years ago I wanted to do something in his memory and as a legacy and tribute to the wonderful man he was.
“The MS Society in Warrington provided invaluable support for my Mum and Dad and this is my way to help support them in return.”
Chris will start his epic run at 10am on Saturday, August 13 and continue until 10am on Monday August 14.
He said: “This year I want to try and help as many groups as we can to raise money for their own causes, so I would like to invite any community groups, sports teams or individuals to jog or walk a mile with me.
“Each group can register with me to take part and then raise money for their group, and the only thing I ask in return is a small donation to the Mayor’s charities as he is supporting me to raise money this year.”
There will be a registration night on Tuesday, July 4 at 6.30pm at Orford Community Centre, Festival Avenue or, alternatively, people interested in joining in can call Chris on 07824 087395.
Chris added: “I was brought up to always think how I can help others and I think running events like this in my Dad’s name  would be an amazing way of showing him I listened. To make MS go away would be amazing but till that day making people aware and how they can help will be my legacy.”
Chris thanked staff at LiveWire for making it possible for him to do the run in the park.

  1. Chris is a really genuinely great guy and running for a great cause. During my Mayors/Deputy years I also got to know the MS community who work very hard to raise awareness and money for research into the crippling disease and support – they always have a teal to tell and a smile on their face (well nearly always)

I wish Chris well on his next adventure, I ran the TT course back in 1984 and I’m still recovering. To read that he intends to almost double what I ran and around Orford course fills me with amazement – I did 40 one mile laps of Sefton Park for charity and that crippled me for weeks- Chris just bounces back and is in working for WBC the next day.

    Total respect for Chris.
