Traffic held up after injured man found lying in road

TRAFFIC piled up at Bridge Foot, Warrington, this afternoon after police sealed off part of Warrington Bridge after an injured  man was found lying in the carriageway.
A number of police vehicles were used to protect the man from passing vehicles. Several lanes were closed with vehicles heading for Mersey Street and Wilson Patten Street both restricted to one lane only.
It is believed the man may have fallen from a bicycle.
An ambulance was called to the scene and the man was taken to hospital. But there was still congestion in Knutsford Road, Chester Road, Wilderspool Causeway, Mersey Street and Wilson Patten Street.
