WARRINGTON Borough Council is to give away compost next month – with up to two free bags on offer per household.
From Thursday June 1 to June 16, the council’s recycling team will be giving out free compost on a first-come first-served basis. The compost is bagged, and residents are invited to collect a bag or two.
David Boyer, assistant director of transport and environment, said: “Since the council started kerbside collections of garden waste in 2006, we have managed to compost 137,000 tonnes – a big thank-you to everyone for your support for the garden waste service.
“We are also delighted that 36,000 people have signed up for our green bin licence for 2017. There is still time to sign up and get your green waste collected this year.”
Anyone who would like to collect some compost should be aware that there is a limited amount available each day, so go early before it runs out.

Why can’t people collect from Stockton Heath recycling centre too rather than having to drive right across town if they live over this neck of the woods?
think yourself lucky they are not charging you for the bag.
