MP drops in to see progress on ecology trail

WARRINGTON North MP Helen Jones visited the New Cut Heritage and Ecology Trail to see the progress being made with the project and to learn about future plans.

A successful bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund has resulted, with match funding from Warrington Borough Council, in £45,000 being available over the next couple of years for specific improvements for Paddington Meadows.

The MP said: “The project is really coming along well. This new funding will see improvements to allow for some disability access and the installation of some seating, information boards and waymarker signage.

“I was also impressed by the new picnic area and the improved access to the facility.

“I know the council have done more feasibility and costing surveys which could result in more improvements in the coming years.“

  1. The Heritage Trail. A great addition to the town. Helen attempting to bask in the glory of something that she no involvement in. Again. Not so great. Funny how she is a vociferous critic of the council, time and time again. But when it’s election season she’s more than happy to take credit for projects like this and give them a smidgeon of recognition. She’s opportunistic I’ll give her that. And a note for Helen and her team when they read this. Well done for getting the road signs in your pictures so that we are all aware of just where you have your picture taken. However, so far I have only seen pictures of Helen out and about with family members, her staff and a handful of party members no doubt under a three line whip to appear. So is there any chance that you could ask some local residents (non party members/ activists) to have a picture with you? After all you have been gushing in your praise of them, telling us all of the warm welcome that you have received on the doorstep, so I’m pretty sure that they will not have an issue being snapped with you? Come on Helen, more pictures with the locals please!

  2. Or we might start to think that the gushing ‘warm welcomes’ that you claim to be receiving everywhere you go in the constituency right now, can be filed in the same ‘nonsense’ section of the filing cabinet where your claims that ‘literally hundreds of local people contacted you to see if you were safe’ following the Westminster attack are located. It’s all about perception I guess. Being perceived to be a popular local MP.

  3. BILLY WIRES, where in the above article does it indicate in any way that Helen Jones is trying to take credit for this project? It merely says that she
“visited the New Cut Heritage and Ecology Trail to see the progress being made with the project and to learn about future plans.”
What’s wrong with her taking an interest in what is going on in her constituency?
I think it’s really good that she shows an interest in the natural environment, – she’s also often seen supporting the Save Peel Hall campaign.
It’s a pity our South Warrington MP doesn’t show such interests – we are currently in danger of losing our last green fields and where is he?

    • It’s the implication that she was involved, hence the photographs with Helen centre stage. She has form for associating herself with local success stories that she has had little or no involvement in or with, and it’s been the complaint the complaint of many a councillor. She really ought to be nicknamed the magpie. And I’d wager that if she’d been put on the spot and asked where this park is she’d give a confused look, as taking an interest in what’s going on in her constituency is an occurrence that only seems to happen every pre-general election period. If you don’t believe me then read her book in which she reminisces about her days as a government whip. I’d recommend it for insomniacs. In it she describes having little time for constituency niceties like visiting schools or projects such as this as she saw little value in it. Yet fast forward to pre-election 2017, and here she is, appearing as the local people’s champion. Right now she’s falling over herself to be pictured in each part of the town. She’s even made more school visits recently than an over worked OFSTED inspector. So why the sudden change of direction? Simple. Because ..She.. Needs..People’s..Votes. And post-election, she’ll simply go back to the same old routine. With Peel Hall, well she made plenty of noises in the press and on social media .But then failed to turn up to support local residents at the planning meeting. With no explanation offered. She wasn’t due to speak but you’d have thought that she would have at least showed her face and she didn’t have the excuse of parliament as it happened on a Thursday evening. Do you think if that meeting had been scheduled for this week then she would turn up? Of course she would. Why so? Because..She.. Needs..People’s..Votes The fact of the matter is quite simply that she demands photo opportunities like this, otherwise she would have little (if nothing) else to say about what she actually does for local people and the local area. The peoples champion? Disingenuous to say the least.
