55,000 have not yet signed up for green bin service

GREEN bin collections are about to start again in Warrington – with up to 55,000 householders still not having signed up to pay the £30 fee to receive the service.
Some 24,000 residents have paid and those who have not yet received their bin stickers have been told not to worry.
If they have paid, the borough council’s computerised system means their green bins will be collected
In addition to the stickers each refuse collection vehicle has an in-cab computer system telling them which residents have subscribed.
The in-cab computer system is updated daily with any new applications added to the round.
When the council first announced charges for emptying green bins, last November, they estimated a take-up of around 35 per cent.
So with the council originally collecting 79,000 green bins, the forecast has so far proved optimistic.
But it is not too late to sign up.
Green waste licences can still be obtained for £30 online at https://www.warrington.gov.uk/gardenwaste or  for £33 from Contact Warrington in Horsemarket Street.

  1. Should say they will have a day collecting the green bins from people who no longer require them – otherwise we’ll become a town of ugly, empty green bins!

  2. I reluctantly paid 30 quid as we moved in a house and green bin was full. Yesterday was collection day and it hasnt been collected. We registered on the 7th March which was cut off. Rang them today and told they will report as missed collection and will take 3 working days to collect. Is this going to happen every fortnight?! There a joke I imagine next year it will be 60 quid and council tax will go up. Licence to print money modern day gangsters!!
