Police appeal for witnesses after assault on van driver

POLICE are appealing for witnesses to come forward after an assault took place on a van driver in Warrington.

The incident took place on the morning of Saturday, February 18,  between 10:15 and 10:45 when two men on Armour Avenue close to the junction with Densham Avenue flagged down a man who was driving a van.

The victim, aged 59, stopped his vehicle and one of the offenders opened the door, punched the driver to the face before kicking the van door causing injury to his hand. The driver then drove away and went to hospital with minor injuries.

A 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and has been bailed pending further enquiries.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident 582 of 18 February.
