EMERGENCY services were called to Birchwood Station, Warrington, shortly after 3pm today (Saturday) following reports that a person had been killed after being hit by a train.
The incident was reported at 3.06pm and police warned members of the public to stay away from the station which was closed following the incident.
British Transport Police confirmed the coroner has been informed.
Cheshire Police advised members of the public seeking to use the station to make alternative arrangements and to avoid the area.
The incident resulted in some rail services being terminated.

How awful 🙁 My thoughts are with the persons family and friends and also the train driver and anyone who witnessed it 🙁
I was on this train so so sad still in shock poor poor driver xx
🙁 Aww I hope you get over your shock soon and are ok. Not sure I would be……must be awful 🙁 I doubt there was a lot the poor train driver could do though as things can happen so fast and without warning. Like I said, thoughts are with all x x
What an awful death, I hope they didn’t suffer too much.
