Hot food takeaway plan is thrown out

PLANS to change the use of an empty shop to a hot food takeaway have been thrown out by Warrington planning chiefs.
The proposal in Padgate Lane,  would be “inappropriate” because of the proximity of a primary school, members of the borough council’s development management committee decided.
Planning officers had recommended the scheme be approved.
But local residents, backed by Cllr Tony Higgins, argued that there were already too many takeaway food shops in the area.
The shop in question had no parking available for staff or customers.
Cllr Higgins said parking in the area was already at a “dangerous level” with vehicles already parked on the pavement, forcing pedestrians into the very busy road.
The meeting was told there were already 12 takeaway shops within a half-mile radius, with three in the same row of shops.
In addition there was a pub selling food and a pie shop.
