MEMBERS of the public are invited to find out about the  Mayor of Warrington’s plans for cohesion between businesses, charities and the local community at a free public lecture at the Warrington Campus of the  University of Chester.
The lecture “The importance of economic development; making a difference in every part of the community” will be delivered by Cllr Faisal Rashid – the 133rd Mayor of the town. It takes place on Tuesday, February 28 at 6.30pm in Lance Dobson Hall.
A family man and a graduate with a Master’s in Business Administration, Cllr Rashid came to Warrington for the first time in 1998 from Manchester, after falling in love with the town and its green open spaces.
He bought a house in the town, while continuing to commute to work in Manchester. Despite working full time and caring for his family, he also started to get involved in the local community. In 2006 he started working as a relationship manager at NatWest in Warrington.
He became a councillor in 2011.
Cllr Rashid said: “My drive for cohesion in Warrington’s business and charity worlds extends to its communities. I have a desire to see more close-knit, supportive environments across the borough. My goal is to see Warrington flourish, to be somewhere people consider a great place to live, work, run a business, raise a family and have a good life.
“Balancing a full time job, family and love for helping others, I’d like to highlight what can be achieved in terms of the way we work together.”
This is a free event and all are welcome to attend. Due to the expected popularity of the event, it is advised that tickets should be booked early via: www.tinyurl.com/MayorLecture
