Reunion planned for the Class of ’67

THEY were the Class of ‘67 at the former Richard Fairclough Secondary School, Warrington – and they are still going strong.
It’s the 50th anniversary of when they left the Knutsford Road school and a reunion is to be held at the King’s Club, St Mary Street, Latchford on July 14 at 8pm.
Organiser Valerie Daniels (nee Brown) already has quite a few former school pals lined up to attend but is anxious to find more.
She said: “We had a reunion around 1990 which was very well attended and I am hoping everyone who came to that one will come again – as well as those who couldn’t make it last time.”
Richard Fairclough School disappeared in 1983 when it was merged with the nearby Boteler school to form Victoria Park Secondary Modern School.
This name did not prove popular, however, and the school later became the Sir Thomas Boteler CE High School which still thrives today.
Valerie said: “At the time we left, the school was divided into girls’ and boys’ schools but we hope former pupils of both will turn up for the reunion.  We all knew one another even though we were taught separately.”
Anyone who wants to attend the reunion should contact Valerie on 01925 659025 opr Bet Llewellyn (nee Hockenhull) on 01925 601142.
