INVESTIGATIONS have started into the cause of the major fire which broke out at Parry’s Paints, Latchford, Warrington late last night.
Crime scene investigators are involved in the operation which at one time involved fire engines from Warrington, Stockton Heath, Penketh, Widnes, Birchwood, Chester and Ellesmere Port.
Firefighting continued until just after 8am today and roads around the site – which is immediately next to Warrington Town Football Club – were closed throughout the night.
They have now been re-opened and traffic is moving freely in the area.
Firefighters used main jets and hose reel jets in the operation. Local people were advised to stay indoors and keep doors and windows closed.
A series of explosions rocked the area – thought to be caused by paints and thinners stored on the premises.
Demolition crews have arrived at the scene and fire chiefs are liaising with the site owners about the removal of materials from the fire ravaged buildings.
Cause of the blaze is not yet known.

“The investigation starts” ………..and will probably end, like Greenhalls, Mr Smiths etc. with no real culprits being found.
