A fund raising appeal has been launched to give an old Warrington veteran who died with no immediate family a proper send off.

Warrington based Soldiers Cleanign Services have organised a free Christmas dinner for veterans, tomorrow (Dec 21) which will include fund raising in memory of veteran John White, who died recently.

John, who lived on the former RAF Padgate site has a funeral scheduled for January 2017 howevery due to lack of £700, his friends and neighbours will not be allowed to attend as he will be subject to a “basic funeral.”

Lucy Smith, who set up Soldier Cleaning Services four years ago and is organising the fund raising, said: ” This is disgusting and hurtful for such a gentle man.

“As a company at Christmas we always arrange a funraise and this year this will be for John. A Christmas dinner has been aranged Free Of Charge for all ex veterans and their families with a raffle and proceeds to his funeral costs.

“Please help us to raise the £700 required to arrange a touching goodbye. If we are lucky to exceed this amount then this will be put towards flowers, memorials etc.”

Lucy established Soldiers Cleaning Services 4 years ago to stop the usual attitude of “all about profits” and to be a company which cared about its clients.
