Discarded cigarette starts house fire

A DISCARDED cigarette is believed to have started a fire in a house in Northway, Warrington.
The blaze involved carpeting and firefighters removed the carpet and used a ventilation unit to clear smoke from the property.
There were no reports of injuries.
Fire crews have also been kept busy dealing with bin fires – two in Grasmere Avenue, Orford,  and one at Kinnock Park, Burtonwood.
Police are investigating.
Firefighters from Stockton Heath dealt with a blaze involving a washing machine in the kitchen of a house in Budworth Avenue, Latchford.
A hosereel jet was used to extinguish the fire and a ventilation unit to clear smoke from the house. There were no reports on injuries.
