Charity staff shortlisted for national awards

A WARRINGTON-based charity is celebrating after a clutch of its staff gained national recognition.
Six staff members from adult health and social care charity Making Space have been shortlisted for a Great British Care Award.
The charity, whose head office is in Allen Street,  provides care and support services all over the country, from residential care to respite services, carer support and specialist dementia care.
Making Space is in the running to take the top prize in four categories: Frontline Leader, Dignity in Care, Dementia Carer and Good Nurse.
Among the half-dozen finalists, are Warrington-based Rachel Yates, who oversees dementia care for the charity and Caroline Anders, who works at Greengate House, a residential setting for people with mental health needs in St Helens. Honor Simpson, who heads up Derby City
Dementia Support Service for the charity is nominated for top Dementia Carer.
Rachel Peacock, director of development, said: “I am extremely proud of not only these six staff members, but of the hidden gems throughout all of our national care services.
“Care work is extremely demanding both physically and mentally and everyone who chooses to work in this sector is deserving of recognition and respect.”
The annual Great British Care Awards recognises individuals who strive for excellence across the care sector.
The finalists will find out at gala awards dinners in November and December whether they will take home the regional titles.
The full list of shortlisted staff members is: Caroline Anders, Frontline Leader; Becky Liddle, Frontline Leader; Rachel Yates, Dignity in Care; Honor Simpson, Dementia Carer; Joby Raju, Good Nurse;  Angela Burchall, Dignity in Care.
