Councillors oppose new housing scheme

PLANS  for a development of 10 houses on the site of a former garden centre at Culcheth are being opposed by local councillors.
The development is planned for Church Lane and would consist of two and three-bedroomed properties.
Culcheth and Glazebury Parish Council and borough councillor Matt Smith are objecting as are five local residents.
The grounds of opposition include inadequate parking provision, overdevelopment of the site, traffic problems on Church Lane and proximity to a busy garage and adjacent restaurant.  There are also concerns over loss of sunlight at nearby houses.
Previous applications for housing on the site have been turned down – even after an appeal – but planning officers say the new proposals have addressed the issues which led to the earlier refusals and are recommending the scheme be approved.
