LIVEWIRE’S Neighbourhood Engagement Officer, Paul Flannery has been recognised by Cheshire Police for the work he does to help young people engage in sport who might otherwise fall into anti-social behaviour.

Paul, 38, won the Community Thank You award at the Achieving Cheshire Excellence (ACE) awards on 15 September.

The ACE awards are the constabulary’s highest accolades, which are awarded to individuals or teams who have gone the extra mile or demonstrated an exceptional commitment to policing in Cheshire.

Paul, who has been working within communities across Warrington for 15 years, picked up 70% of the votes in his category.

He was recognised for the work he does alongside officers in the Warrington Local Policing Unit to help divert young people away from anti-social behaviour and engage them in sport and other activities.

Paul has played a key part in helping to run the Victoria Park Experience (VPX), the Westy Boxing Club and other sports projects across the town, which have helped to transform young people’s lives and have reduced levels of anti-social behaviour (ASB) in certain areas.

Emma Hutchinson, managing director of LiveWire, said: Paul truly deserves this award for the outstanding work he does within Warrington’s neighbourhoods. He is a credit to the organisation.

“Since starting to work for LiveWire he has helped reduce anti-social behaviour in a number of areas by providing activities for young people who may have become disillusioned with their communities.”
