We’re the North’s best place to raise a family!

WARRINGTON is the best place in the North of England to raise a family – and the fourth best in the whole of the UK.
This is the conclusion of this year’s uSwitch Better Family Life Index survey.
The price comparison company surveyed all 138 local authorities in the country and Warrington came out as the best in the North and only behind Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Central Bedfordshire nationally.
Cllr Terry O’Neill (pictured), leader of the borough council, said: “We are very pleased to be named as the best place in the north of the United Kingdom to raise a family.
“Surveys have consistently shown that the work we do as a council has made Warrington a great place in which to live, work and do business.”
The nationwide investigation used a wide range of criteria including:
*    Employment rate (those aged 16-64 in employment)
*    Percentage of young people not in education, employment or training
*    Annual gross pay
*    Number of schools per thousand population
*    Percentage of pupils achieving 5+ A*-C grades including English and maths at GCSE or equivalent.
Other factor taken into account were the numbers of nurseries and child care centres, number of GPs, the crime rate, time spent with loved ones, average fuel bill, hours of sleep, total days holiday, average amount of sunshine and weekly food shop bill.
