LIVEWIRE’S marathon fitness challenge has gone global thanks to fitness fanatics in America, Spain and Italy.
The one million rep challenge set by the Warrington lifestyle group has now been completed by people in Hawaii, California, Majorca, The Vatican and even at the top of Mount Vesuvius in Italy.
The epic challenge, which raises money for St Rocco’s Hospice in Warrington, asks people to play their part in completing one million reps of squats, press-ups and burpees and post short videos to social media using the hashtag #1milrepchallenge and nominate friends to join in.
With 19 days to go of the 37 day challenge, members and non-members have already helped LiveWire reach 408,000 reps with fewer than 600,000 to go until LiveWire need to reach their target on National Fitness Day on 7 September.
There will be a final push on National Fitness Day with a group repathon at Orford Jubilee Neighbourhood Hub from 6-9pm.
National Fitness Day is an annual event of mass participation and celebration of all things physical activity which runs all over the UK with activities and events at local leisure centres, gyms and health clubs.
Jake Smith, senior Livewire advisor for fitness, said: “It’s fantastic that the one million rep challenge is proving so popular and has caught the attention of people across two different continents.
“We’re half way through the challenge now and on track to smash our target but we need more people to take part and help us reach the final goal and raise money for St Rocco’s.”
