A group of travellers have vacated the Toys R Us car park at Westbrook, Warrington – just one day after setting up an illegal encampment on private land, while another group left Orford Park after a week!

Bailiffs helped remove the group, while police kept a watching brief.

Around eight vehicles including caravans and  vans parked up on the rear car park around yesterday lunch time.

By 8pm tonight they had left the site and were last seen travelling up Winwick Road.

In complete contrast another group encamped on an over flow car park on council owned land at Orford Park Jubilee Hub took a week to vacate the land.

The council had a court hearing  at Halton magistrates court today, Friday, after the travellers ignored previous council notices to vacate the land. As a result the six vehicles eventually left Orford Park at around 3pm today – exactly seven days after arriving.

Meanwhile a Warrington Travellers Task Group has been set up by the council which had its initial, introductory meeting earlier this week – with an agenda to find a permanent travellers site int he town – at a cost of around £2m.
