WARRINGTON North MP Helen Jones has pledged to continue to press the Government on the issue of funding for research into brain tumours.
Ms Jones, who chairs the Select Committee on Petitions, was addressing the All-Party Group on Brain Tumours following the petitions committee’s recent report on research into the disease.
She spoke about the government’s response to the report and the next steps in the campaign.
The MP said: “ The fact that the Government has admitted that there is not enough research into this dreadful disease is a step forward. They have agreed to set up a committee, including clinicians, charities and others to move things forward.
“However, they have not yet faced up to the lack of research funding which is driving young researchers to change specialities or move abroad, nor to the problems of diagnosis.
“My committee will be ensuring that the government follows through on its
Promises.”
