“Get ready for new fight to save Peel Hall” – MP

WARRINGTON North MP Helen Jones is urging residents to again mobilise to defend open land at Peel Hall against a new bid to build a major housing development.
Satnam Millennium Ltd – who have previously failed to win planning consent for housing on the site – have now put in a new application for 1,200 homes and a local centre.
Ms Jones – who played a leading role in fighting the earlier application – says residents should make sure they take part in a consultation exercise the borough council is to hold.
She says the development, which would include a food store, restaurant/pub, sports pitches and land for a primary school, would effectively wipe out the last big green space in Warrington North.
The MP said: “Over the years I have had a huge postbag on this issue and a petition has already garnered over a thousand signatures opposing any development of the site.  It is clear that local people are overwhelmingly opposed to any such plans.
“This new application is massive in its scope with a new local centre being built in addition to new houses.  It will change the face of the area irrevocably and destroy the last big green space in my constituency.
“The housing will not be of the type needed in Warrington and the knock-on effect for surrounding areas will be considerable as the infrastructure needed and the means of access for the site will cause significant issues for residents living further afield.
“I urge people let the borough council know what they feel about the new application and to be ready to mobilise once more to protect Peel Hall.
“ The message to Satnam is clear – however many times you come back,  we will oppose you.”
