Fire crews called out to deal with flooding after heavy rain

FIREFIGHTERS were called out during the early hours of today to deal with flooding incidents.

Heavy rain during the night also caused a number of early morning road closures on Lovely Lane and Marsh House Lane while firefighters were called out to deal with flooding incidents at two properties.

Shortly before 3.30am, a crew from Stockton Heath was called to Knutsford Road to deal with flooding caused by heavy rain which was affected the electrical installations at a house.

Firefighters isolated the electricity supply, traced the source of the flooding and then advised the householder to contact an electrician.

Later, just after 4am, a crew from Warrington Fire Station was called to Wilderspool Causeway where heavy rain flooded a lift and electric cupboard in a flat complex.

They isolated the electricity supply and then called in lift engineers.

All the drains around the complex were cleared and water was drained from the lift and electric cupboard.

Shortly before midnight, fire crews from Birchwood were called to Leatham Close, Birchwood and used a hose reel jet to extinguish a fire involving a park cars.

Police were called in as it was believed the fire had been started deliberately.
