Reaching out to help carers

TOWN Hall and health chiefs at Warrington will join forces to celebrate Carers Week from Monday June 6-12 – reaching out to carers across the borough to make sure they know all about the support and help available to them.
Warrington Borough Council and NHS Warrington Clinical Commissioning Group, in partnership with Wired Adults and Young Carers’ Service, will also highlight the challenges carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK.
This year, Carers Week will focus on Building Carer Friendly Communities, where communities support carers to look after their loved ones, while recognising that they are individuals with needs of their own.
A schedule of activities to be held during the week has been arranged, including free narrow boat trips, painting in Bank Park, a coach trip, pamper day, craft activities, afternoon tea party, etc.
Cllr Pat Wright, the borough council’s lead member for statutory health and adult social care, said: “Carers Week in Warrington is brought to life by the individuals and organisations who come together to run events and activities for carers and those they care for. These events are so important as they provide carers with support, advice and opportunities to reduce stress.
“We recognise how important caring is and we are committed to listening to carers. I encourage all carers to complete our consultation questionnaire, so that we can ensure that the services available are appropriate and as good as they can be.”
