Hit and run victim left for dead

POLICE are appealing for information after a driver failed to stop following a serious collision in Warrington when a teenage boy was “left for dead” in the road.

The collision, between a 15-year-old boy and a car, occurred at approximately 10.30pm last night (Wednesday) on the A57, Sankey Way, near to where the road crosses Sankey Valley Park.

The vehicle involved is described as a dark saloon car. Following the collision the vehicle is believed to have damage to the front nearside of vehicle and to the windscreen.

As a result of the incident the 15-year-old boy received injuries to his leg and face; he was taken to Alder Hey Hospital where his condition is currently described as stable.

Investigating Officer Sergeant Dave Harrison said: “This was a serious collision and I am keen to trace the person responsible.

“The A57 is a busy road, and one of the main thoroughfares into and out of Warrington town centre. I believe there would have been other people in the area  at the time of the incident and I keen to speak them if they believe that they may have any information that could assist my investigation.”

The incident has sparked outrage on social media, with eye witnesses saying the boy was “left for dead” by the motorist.

Anyone with any information in relation to the incident is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 932 of 1/6/2016. Alternatively, information can be reported anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
