Vandals target nature reserve

1

POLICE are appealing for information after vandals targeted Risley Moss nature reserve near Warrington.

Water holding devices that keep the water level in the peat bogs at the right level have been damaged causing the water levels to drop making parts of the land to dry.

Park rangers say this will have an impact on wildlife including birds during their breeding season.
They say it will take until at least next year for water levels to return to their normal levels.

The area is a site of scientific importance and is protected by law; there is no public access to the area where the damage has occurred and rangers believe the damage has been done deliberately.

Any one with information regarding the matter, please contact the police on 101, ref CC16142325
