New Mayor to support business and four local charities

WARRINGTON’S new Mayor Cllr Faisal Rashid aims to add new aspects to his mayoral role which will benefit the business community and the people of Warrington.

One of these will be the new ‘Mayor’s Achievement Awards’ to recognise those who have made considerable contribution to the society and community of  Warrington.

He is also launching an initiative to support businesses called ‘Circle – The Future’.

Cllr Rashid will be supporting four charities in his year in office: Warrington Disability Partnership; St Rocco’s Hospice; the Tim Parry Jonathan Ball Foundation for Peace and Brainwave.

He said: “I want to show support for the local business and charity worlds of Warrington both of which are extremely important for the town. But I would also like to see more close-knit, supportive environments created across the borough.”

A family man married to Aleeza, the Mayoress, and a graduate with a Masters degree in Business Administration, he has lived in Warrington since 1998 and works for Nat West as a relationship manager.

Cllr Rashid became a councillor in 2011 for Chapelford and Old Hall after many years of being involved volunteering in his local communities in his spare time.

Balancing a full time job, family and love for helping others, he wants to highlight what can be achieved in terms of the way we work together and has a goal to see Warrington flourish, to be somewhere people consider a great place to live, work, run a business, raise a family and have a good life.

Latchford West’s councillor, Les Morgan, is this year’s deputy mayor.
