Free swimming as Woolston pools reopen

BOTH swimming pools at Woolston Neighbourhood Hub will reopen tomorrow morning (Tuesday), following a delay to the planned essential maintenance  works – and to mark the occasion there will be free swimming sessions.

Following on from the work to upgrade the plant room and heating system, essential technical inspections are now complete and contractors have handed over the pools to LiveWire.

A spokesperson for LiveWire Warrington said: “We would like to thank our customers for their continued patience during this period and will be offering free public swimming all day on Tuesday 17 May at Woolston, between 7.30am-10pm in the main pool and 3pm-8pm in the training pool.

“Learn To Swim and school swimming programmes will resume at the site on Wednesday.

“We will be contacting all of our customers on the Learn To Swim programme individually to let them know the sessions at Woolston are resuming.”

The swimming pools closed last November at the start of a £1.1m improvement project including much needed repairs to heating systems, the plant room and pipes under the swimming pools.

The pools had been scheduled to open five weeks ago.
