Improved plans for neighbourhood hub

PLANS to develop a neighbourhood hub to serve the communities of Bewsey and Dallam will be discussed by Warrington planning chiefs next week following further improvements to the proposals.
Councillors originally gave the planning application the go-ahead back in February but neighbourhood wellbeing company LiveWire are now seeking further approval for slightly amended designs that will provide a more flexible and efficient build.
The facility is being developed thanks to £1 million of funding from Warrington Borough Council’s capital investment programme along with additional funding from housing provider Torus and neighbourhood wellbeing company LiveWire, and further opportunities have now arisen with other funders meaning a £2.4 million hub can now be developed.
The hub will provide a range of facilities to address health and wellbeing inequalities in the area including a hydro-therapy pool, fitness suite, smart library and rooms for community activities.
Enabling works to prepare the site on Longshaw Street started last month in order to pave the way for the construction of the three-storey building which will start to be built early this summer.
Emma Hutchinson, managing director of LiveWire, said: “The redesign will enable the project to proceed more quickly and reduce costs, which have been achieved through minor redesign and removal of one internal staircase, enabling a more flexible design to be adopted.
“The original design concept has been maintained and following consultation with NHS England, the community health and wellbeing offer has been integrated further into the design of the building.”
