Security fence plan for Free School

PLANNING chiefs at Warrington are to be asked to rule on whether a 2.4 metre high security fence can be erected around the new King’s Leadership Academy currently nearly completion on land off Hillock Lane, Woolston.
The weld mesh fence – coloured “grass green” is required to secure the site and also to meet Ofsted requirements.
The school – the only Free School in the borough – is now substantially completed, after planning consent was granted on appeal following Warrington Borough Council’s refusal to grant permission.
Staff and pupils are due to move into the new building from their existing temporary accommodation in June.
There will be three sets of gates in the fencing, which will be erected around the school’s perimeter if the borough’s development management committee give approval.
Planning officers say the fencing will have no detrimental impact on nearby housing and are recommending the application be approved.
The new building will accommodate 840 pupils – and it is claimed it is already oversubscribed.
