Marathon man back in Warrington

More than 100 people from Warrington turned out to show their support for marathon man Ben Smith who is attempting to break the World Record for the most marathons ran consecutively as he arrived in town for a second time to complete his 214th race.

Ben passed through Warrington again on his incredible attempt to complete 401 marathons in 401 days. Back in January he was joined by 40 Warrington runners to complete his 129th marathon, but this time double that number turned out.

School and community groups, runners, walkers and joggers helped Ben complete all or part of his second Warrington race which started at Orford Park and took him through Birchwood, Woolston, Latchford, Stockton Heath and Great Sankey.

The 33-year-old, who was bullied as child, is attempting to break the World Record for the most marathons ran consecutively to raise money for charities Kidscape and Stonewall who work tirelessly to combat bullying in schools and society.

His challenge began in September 2015 with marathon number one and he has so far covered a distance of 5,371 in different locations across the UK including Manchester and Liverpool. If he finishes all 401 marathons he will have ran 10,586 miles in just over 13 months.
