Town a step closer to lifting league title

WARRINGTON Town are a step closer to winning the league title without kicking a ball.

Rivals Northwich Victoria lost 1-0 away at Bamber Bridge last night, following a 2-2 draw at Trafford at the weekend.

Even if they won their two games in hand Vics would still be nine points behind Warrington – even if they were successful with their appeal against nine points being deducted for fielding an ineligible player.

But Town will want to wrap the title up before their final game of the season – away at second placed Spennymoor Town, currently 13 points adrift but with a game in hand.

The Easter weekend fixtures could go a long way to deciding the title, with Warrington traveling to 7th placed Lancaster on Saturday, followed by the visit of local rival Witton Albion on Easter Monday, both games kick off 3pm
