Knifemen threaten elderly woman in her own home

TWO men armed with knives threatened a terrified elderly woman in her own home at Warrington and demanded that she hand over money.
They ransacked the house in Fairclough Avenue, Howley before leaving via the back door.
Police today appealed for information from the public following the aggravated burglary which occurred on Friday (March 11) at about 8.15pm
The offenders entered the house after forcing a rear door.
Once inside they carried out an untidy search of the property before confronting the occupier, an elderly woman, and demanding cash.
One man was about 5ft 11 inches tall, of average build and spoke with a local accent. He was wearing a grey knitted balaclava and a light grey bomber jacket.
The second offender was wearing a balaclava at the time of the incident.
DC Neil Orford said: “I would like to appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time of this incident and believes that they have any information that could assist our enquiries.
“Thankfully the victim in this case was uninjured – however she has been left extremely shaken.”

  1. I doubt the punishment will fit the crime. If they get a prison sentence it won’t be for long and life ‘inside’ is too cushy to deter them from doing similar again. The cat o’ nine tails followed by a good few years breaking rocks would be better but even that probably wouldn’t change them. People who can do such crimes have such twisted personalities they will never change. Hope the lady gets a lot of support, it must have been a terrible shock.
