Car thief put to flight by householder

A WOULD-be car thief fled empty handed after being disturbed by a householder at Warrington last night.
The offender was using a pole in an attempt to hook a set of car keys through the letterbox of a house in Marina Avenue, Great Sankey.
But the householder saw the pole coming through the letterbox and the offender ran off when disturbed.
Police have appealed to people not to leave car keys near doors and windows where they can be seen from the outside and “fished” by thiefs.
Two other cars were stolen at Warrington last night.
A blue BMW M3 and a black Mini Cooper were stolen from a house in Browning Drive, Winwick after burglars gained entry to the house and stole keys.
