A NEW team of experienced academics has been put in place to manage the University of Chester’s Warrington Campus.

Professor Annette McIntosh-Scott has been appointed as the Provost of the Campus, following the retirement of Professor Peter Harrop last year. She will be supported in her role by two deputies – Dr Naomi Sharples and Professor Lawrence Bellamy with Shelley Hanvey taking the role of Stakeholder Development Officer.

Professor McIntosh-Scott is also the Executive Dean of the Faculty of Health and Social Care. After qualifying as a nurse and midwife she held various posts as a nurse in Aberdeen and Edinburgh, predominantly in the area of critical and cardiac care.

Her years in health and social care education have been spent in a range of roles including clinical teacher, lecturer, principal lecturer and quality advisor at Edinburgh Napier University as well as her roles at Chester.

She was appointed as Executive Dean in August 2012, having previously held the positions of Associate Dean, Learning and Teaching, and Deputy Dean of the Faculty.

Dr Sharples is Associate Dean (Business and Enterprise) in the Faculty of Health and Social Care. Naomi has a clinical background nursing and managing at the National Centre for Mental Health and Deafness.

She moved into an academic career in 2000 and came to the University of Chester in October 2013. Her current role involves working closely with partners and stakeholders to ensure the University’s education provision is aligned with their workforce needs.

Professor Lawrence Bellamy is Associate Dean (International) for the Faculty of Business and Management and leads the Warrington School of Management. With a background in Engineering and Construction Management, he is a Chartered Engineer and Strategy and Supply Chain specialist.

Shelley has recently completed a MA in Corporate Communications with a focus on stakeholder and public engagement. Her work includes building closer relationships with external partners.

Students at the 30-acre Warrington Campus study a range of Bachelors, Masters and PhD degrees across Business, Media and Sport as well as professional degrees in Education, Nursing, Social Work and Policing.

Professor McIntosh-Scott said: “I’m very proud to take the role of Provost at the University’s Warrington Campus which has a long-standing reputation for providing education in the area for over 65 years.

“One of our aims is to further embed the University in the community and raise the profile of the Campus and the opportunities for students both locally and nationally.”
