EXTRA support for domestic abuse survivors in the Frodsham area and elsewhere across West Cheshire should be available following a successful funding bid by Cheshire West and Chester Council.
The authority is to receive a share of a £3.5m government grant aimed at increasing the availability of specialist accommodation-based services.
The £90,000 grant will provide additional community-based safe housing in the borough for those directly affected by domestic abuse.
It will also provide a central hub to manage support and improve access to services such as therapeutic and practical support, recovery services and advocacy.
Cllr Louise Gittins (pictured), the council’s lead member for Culture, Leisure and Wellbeing, said: “Many domestic abuse survivors require specialist accommodation-based services to ensure that they and their children are safe from harm.
“This new funding will help the council to further improve its support in this area by providing additional safe housing to enable vulnerable individuals and their families to live as independently as possible.
“Meanwhile, the new central hub will not only provide access to a range of fundamental services, but will create a safe and discreet environment for people affected by domestic abuse to socialise, gain in confidence and support each other.
“This further development of a new and already successful service underlines the council’s commitment to continually review and improve its domestic abuse service offer in order to create an environment that supports recovery for all survivors and their children.”
