Bin collection dates over holiday period

SOME bin collection dates will change in Warrington over the Christmas-New Year period – and residents are urged to make sure they don’t miss them.
In the week beginning December 22 up until Christmas Day, bins will be collected a day earlier than usual.
On December 29 through to New Year’s Eve, bins will be collected on the normal day but people who would normally have their bin emptied on New Year’s Day will have them emptied on Monday, January 4.
The borough council is working in partnership with St Rocco’s Hospice on the Christmas tree collection in the New Year.
Teams of dedicated volunteers will brave the winter temperatures to collect trees from across the borough on Saturday January 9 in return for a donation to St Rocco’s. Residents can book their collection by calling 01925 579211.
Cllr Judith Guthrie (pictured), the council’s lead members for environment, said: “We’ve scheduled the collections so that all residents will get their bins emptied regularly during the Christmas period. Your bins may be emptied a day earlier than usual, or a day later, but collections will take place.
“Residents can book a Christmas tree collection from St Rocco’s now and all donations will help to raise valuable funds for St Rocco’s patient care.
“Please recycle as much of your extra Christmas waste as possible. I would like to say a big thank you to residents for their support during the last year.”
Warrington’s community recycling centres are open as usual every day except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. For more information on waste and recycling visit www.recycleforwarrington.co.uk
